What are Gas Settings?

OpenSea Pro’s new Gas Settings helps you navigate network congestion on Ethereum and lets you set a custom gas fee preset to breeze through future transactions.

Gas Settings should be used when you expect more congestion in the Ethereum network and are willing to spend more ETH so your transactions have a higher chance of being confirmed.

For example, you may want to change your gas settings when a popular artist is minting a new collection, or when users are competing to buy a new PFP collection.

When there is network congestion, you may notice a higher gwei number next to the ⛽️ icon on the bottom-right of the page, this is the Gas Indicator. If you hover over the gas indicator, see the current base fee and priority fee.

To use Gas Settings:

1) Navigate to the ⛽️ icon on the bottom-right of the page, next to the ETH price indicator. In the example below we see the number 28, this indicates the current gwei amount.

Next to this you’ll see Standard, this is where you’ll customize gas fees and gwei with Gas Settings pop-up modal.

2) Depending on your needs, you can change your transaction preset from Standard to Fast to Turbo under Presets.

3) Once you’ve set your gas fee, the new settings will be displayed. In the example below, gas has been set to the Turbo preset at 35 gwei, with a 1.01 Priority Fee.

For advanced users, you can also customize your Priority and Max Fee under the Custom tab.

However, we don’t recommend customizing these settings often, as they may lead to unnecessarily high gas fees (example settings below are for reference only).
