Whenever you run a purchase transaction using OpenSea Pro, you may be trying to buy NFT item(s) that others are also trying to purchase. As multiple people try to buy the same item(s), this means that only one individual will end up getting the item(s).

There can be some other rare unexpected errors due to some special tokens, NFTs, or other market factors.

To look into these errors, we'll be using blockchain explorers like Etherscan (for transactions on Ethereum), and Polygonscan (for transactions on Polygon).

Two types of failed transactions:

Depending on your wallet provider, the returned amount may be reflected immediately or there can be a delay. MetaMask and Etherscan don’t reflect refunded amounts immediately and there could be an extended delay which usually lasts for a few minutes.

1) Review the transaction details for your purchase by clicking on the Etherscan logo.

If the transaction happened on Polygon, you'll see a link-shaped icon (see below). Click to proceed to the transaction activity on Polygonscan.

2) Under the Overview tab, review the ‘From:’ & ‘Interacted With (To):’ section:

In this example ‘Yellow error’ Etherscan transaction, one of the NFTs was not purchased. In this case funds were returned: (also highlighted in the screenshot):
